Our Investment Thesis

The strategy

Sky Light Invest considers investments as a long-term partnership. We invest both on  deal by deal basis into specific projects and as a limited partner in funds. We do everything we can to mitigate downside risk through structural protection and are willing to trade complexity for higher value. Regarding our long-term strategy, we prefer to manage and hold our investments over time and feel no pressure or need to exit within five years, as most private equity and VC funds do. Co-investing with or syndicating to our trusted, experienced partners helps us make even more significant impact to enlight the future of our portfolio companies.

Our investment focus

We focus on several traditional and high-tech sectors with large growth potential, in geographies where such industries have competitive advantage. By creating alignment with existing management teams, we can realize high and stable returns through an operational focus and optimization of the company/project growth.

Tech sectors

We’re fans of technology that can change the course of our future for the better. This means we’re keen on investing in cutting-edge and leading tech such as FinTech, E-commerce, EdTech, and Data analytics & systems and Blockchain:

FinTech

Traditional banks are slow in adopting new technologies to cater to modern demands. Neobanks and FinTech services aim to close the technological, customer journey and product gap.

E-commerce

An industry that has developed rapidly, but online penetration varies significantly. E-groceries still have the lowest penetration while TAM size remains large.

EdTech

There’s a huge market opportunity for platforms to bridge the knowledge gap to meet the requirements of this digital age.

Data Analytics & Systems

There’s a growing need for new solutions to improve the overall process and efficiency. Data analysts spend 70-80% of their time on data preparation that could be automated.

Blockchain

Decentralized technologies are in high demand due to their speed and ease. Countless opportunities exist in ESG-compliant mining, payments processing, and asset digitalization.

Traditional sectors

For more traditional sectors, we also don’t hold back as we believe they play a fundamental role in how we live. We have a great interest in green metals, transportation assets ownership, energy and property:

Green metals

There’s skyrocketing demand due to the global economy’s shift to a decarbonized model. We’re only focused on producing and ready-to-develop assets rather than those in the exploration stages.

Transportation

Demand for cargo is set to increase above new ships and plane construction rates. These are leverageable assets, and fleet rotation can drive the availability of affordable and quality ships.

Energy

Carbon neutrality drives the demand for renewable energy. The tech revolution is making new energy sources such as hydrogen economically viable. The ESG agenda pressures the multinationals to divest unsustainable and non-ecological energy assets.

Property

The global population is increasing and average income levels are rising, resulting in more construction and quality design demand. We’re focused on leverageable assets with projects with construction permits in place.
